Turn it around…Again.

As I listened to Glowreeyah Braimah’s song Miracle Worker (feat. Nathaniel Bassey) this morning, my mind went to the first line of the Psalm 126. The words of that verse intertwined with the lyrics of the song and sank deep into my soul. When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion it felt like a dream to them, the God that can change destinies in a second, turned their story around. In a moment, they went from being in captive to being free.

What struck me most about the verse was the fact that God turned their captivity around AGAIN. So it wasn’t a fluke, it wasn’t a once-off, by-chance occurrence, God had done it before and he did it again. And more importantly he can do it again. That’s a huge comfort.

Think about a time in your life when you felt trapped, when you felt overwhelmed by situations in your life that at the time felt like it was going to consume you. A job loss, a burnt house, a sick child; then think about how you came through that. The moment passed and those feeling of despair went away. You got your job back, you had your health restored, you moved into a better home – God turned that situation around for good. If you can think of at least one time in your life when you were down and God stepped in and helped you back on your feet, then he can and will help your through whatever you may be facing now.

I have kept a frame in my bedroom since I got married, it’s a simple glass frame with sticky notes where I write memorable testimonies – moments in time when God showed up and helped me. I keep that frame to remind me of how powerful God is and how faithful he is to his word. I keep that testimony frame on my wall to help me through tough times and to always remember that if God did it before, he can do it again.

What’s your story? What are those great feats that God has accomplished in your life? That debt got paid? The car crash didn’t kill you? That lost child was found? Those should go up on your wall and deep in your heart. Cherish those stories, tell them to your kids, remember them always because God can turn around any situation for good.

Remember all he has done for you and use that as a reference point to believe him for a miracle today.

"When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.
Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The Lord hath done great things for them.
The Lord hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.
Turn again our captivity, O Lord, as the streams in the south.
They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.
He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him."
