Working Mom's Best Friend - WATSON

There are certain things every working mother knows, at least eight things we all agree on: One, hire a good nanny no matter the cost. Two, keep a functional schedule to maintain balance at home and work. Three, family vacations ain’t for you but for the kids. Four, Mom friends are essential for those days you need to let off some steam – they understand. Five, you need to make time for ‘him’ else he falls to the bottom of the list. Six, flexible work arrangement are priceless. Seven, a smile from your child is truly rewarding, worth all the hassles of the day. Eight, having a career enhances yourself image and gives you financial independence. There is one more thing every working mom wishes she has and that’s a double - someone to keep track of the little things that go unnoticed and eventually mess up your day when it pops up.

So when I heard IBM had a new cutting edge analytical solution that could potentially be my double, I was ecstatic. I welcomed Watson with open hands looking forward to that day when I could relinquish some of my chores to this system. You see Watson isn’t just like every other computer, it’s cognitive, it’s different. Unlike most machines it ‘thinks’ in a multi dimensional way and has abilities to make inferences. Watson takes your unique data that you have inputted and computes scenarios/outcomes based on patterns.  It even understands natural language and can now even see!

At this moment light bulbs are going off in my hand – I’m thinking what would happen if I had a Watson for Working Moms on my phone that could track the number of miles I travel to work every day and predict how much gas I use in a month, or even alert me when I need to refuel? That could help me better plan my finances and save me some unplanned trips to the gas station. Or based on my shopping pattern and family size, predict my weekly shopping list? What if my Watson for Working Moms could keep a record of my kids age and based on development milestones alert me when they need to go in for immunizations or dental check up? That will definitely keep me from the unplanned doctor’s visit I make when these emergencies eventually come.

And if my Watson for working moms could track airline rates and my planned trips in my calendars and advise me on when to book a trip at the best travel rates? Wouldn’t I save a load on tickets and hotel bills? If my Watson could track my car trips and based on my car model and age, predict when I need to make major changes to some parts in my car, I wouldn’t be stranded at the road side when something in the car suddenly give up.

Yes every working mom just like me needs a double, an intelligent one that can track these little things we leave unnoticed and nudge us when we need to take action and that’s where Watson comes to play. Watson is already doing so many of these things and more.  Check out Watson Trends that keeps you abreast of the trending gifts and can make buying presents for kids birthday parties so much easier. So I just need to figure out how to welcome him to my family and make the life of this working mom just a little more easier.

Tell me, what can Watson do for you?

  1. Sounds really amazing. I would like my Watson to tell me when the second gas cylinder is empty (my nanny obviously doesn't), whose party is coming up next in my daughter's class!!!(we don't show up empty handed)... and maybe what next to wear for work based on my work calender ( saves 20 minutes of traffic time), and finally remind me its time to eat (get too busy sometimes)...

    1. Lol...yes my Watson should tell me what to wear and when to upgrade my wardrobe based on the last time I shopped and ongoing sales in stores...wouldn't that be cool?

  2. Great gadgy to own. Can it get a lil sophisticated to tell when phcn will take the light and how long the light will stay, tell how much Naira will be to one USD and what next the CBN monetary policy will be and so on... It just can't tell when Jesus will come (lol)

    1. Lol...Why not how much diesel you need considering how much you get at home per month...then you can order for your diesel in bulk and stop last minute purchases

  3. A really great innovation! Watson already does a lot to ease the working mom's schedule. Does it by any chance have a security or traffic alert angle to it?

    1. Fungi that would be awesome! If I can get my Watson to predict traffic routes and potential danger spots on the road based on historical data, weather conditions and security reports...cool

  5. Love this Seye - my Watson would do all of the grocery shopping for me, schedule the shipment to the house and plan a menu for the week. (and one day -actually turn on the oven and cook too!)
