This tricky thing called self-awareness

I spent some time this morning listening to an entrepreneur and investor popularly known as Gary Vee. He was speaking as the Keynote at ICON in 2016, really good video to watch for Marketers and Business owners. He talked about couple of really interesting points but the one I most agreed on is this tricky subject of self-awareness.

It’s one skill I try to sharpen with each passing day and one I am trying to teach my kids. Nothing frees you more, energizes you more and blesses you more than knowing who you really are. We’ve all heard the phrase ‘be a great original’ and we strive to be but most times, in the bid to fit in, we compromise on that.

I have learned that the times I was happiest with myself was when I was just being me. You can only go with the crowd for so long before you burn out with exhaustion. Being yourself doesn’t wear you out it re-energizes you. Being self-aware is a gift that liberates.

If you truly want to live out your days to the fullest then take some time to know your strength and weakness. Love it and embrace it. It’s only by knowing and accepting the whole you, quirks and all, can you truly see the opportunities unique to your strengths. Its only at that point that you can be all God created you to be.
