The Trust Fall - Learning to Trust in God

As humans, we all experience moments of fear—when we feel like letting go and trusting God is not an option. In those moments, God calls us to a higher place, a place of faith, courage, and trust. When our faith gets tested, God wants to help us dig in and trust Him wholeheartedly.

Anyone who has had such moments can agree with me; it's a terrifying thing to do. Let go, hold on, or take that leap of faith at times when the stakes are high, and you don't know how the story will end. At those critical times, God invites us to do one thing and one thing only - trust Him.

Let's reflect on a story in the book of 2 Chronicles 20; here we see King Jehoshaphat facing an impossible battle that he knows may not end well, but God send him a word of reassurance:

"He said: "Listen, King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the Lord says: 'Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God's." 2 Chronicles 20:15 (NIV)

Have you ever felt that tug of fear when faced with uncertainty? It's natural to struggle with trust—wondering how much we can rely on God. Can you imagine taking that step, despite your fears, knowing He is with you no matter what? Or waiting patiently for His timing, even when everything within you wants immediate action?

I had my 'Trust 101' life exams recently when I had a high-stakes decision to make, and I was so worried about the outcome. But God, in his faithfulness, sent me words of reassurance through friends and family who reminded me that God orders the steps of a righteous person and that he will always be with me wherever I go. Indeed, a timely word in season strengthens the soul.

When we find ourselves battling fears and internal doubts, we should seek his direction and follow the path he lays out, even if it seems uncertain. God is calling us to trust him, and that comes from deepening our knowledge of who He is, finding comfort in His presence, and learning to listen to the gentle nudges of His Spirit, which lives in us.

As God's children, we can rest in knowing His plans are good and that He holds a purpose beyond what we can see. Psalm 37:37 (NKJV) tells us to "Mark the blameless man, and observe the upright; For the future of that man is peace."

So, trust God this year. Take that leap of faith and embrace the One who will carry you through, even when the path ahead seems unclear. It's okay to feel uncertain—You are not alone in this journey; trust God.
