The State of the Heart – Who’s Steering Your Life?
The heart is a lot like a ship’s rudder. It sets the direction. It guides the course. But here’s the thing, the rudder doesn’t steer itself. It’s just a tool, a part of the ship. The captain, the one at the helm, decides where the ship goes. He sees the storms ahead, charts the course, and holds the wheel firmly.
So, if your heart is the rudder, who’s your captain?
Who’s Setting Your Course?
Are you being guided by the Creator who knows all things? Or are you following the ever-changing standards of the world? Our world offers trends, opinions, and “best guesses” about the future, estimates at best and at worst, they're blind guesses. Do you really want to gamble your future on guesswork? Or would you rather trust the One who created time, who knows your beginning and end?
What the Heart Truly Longs For
No title, salary, location, or relationship will completely satisfy your heart. That longing you feel. That restlessness? It comes from a heart with a deep desire to reconnect to the One who made you and the only one who can truly satisfy it.
“For He satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.” Psalm 107:9
God’s idea of "good things" goes beyond material things. He’s talking about the treasures that flow from His presence—eternal gifts that outlast seasons. They endure.
- Peace that steadies you
- Joy that overflows
- A purpose that anchors you
- Contentment that defies logic
What’s the State of Your Heart?
So, let’s do a quick check-up on the state of our heart, is it in tune with its Maker? Or is it chasing the noise and pressure of the world? The choice is ours. And the task is straightforward:
“Now devote your heart and soul to seeking the LORD your God…” 1 Chronicles 22:19
What’s the result of your check-up? Whatever it says, let the true Captain take the wheel.
