Sparrow Love

February is defined as a month of love – a time to express just how much we care for others. While there are as many definitions of love as there are ways to express it, this is one of my favorite:

“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” Matthew 6:26

This verse expresses, in a unique way, just how much God cares about us. If God cares about the birds and feeds them, then you should know that He cares about us even more. We are the creation made in his image and likeness. He took the time to create us in all our uniqueness. He understands our pains, fears and needs and cares about our concerns.

Psalm 139 verse 7 reminds us, “Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?” God’s love is so great that He stays with us wherever we go. Sometimes when we feel alone, we need to remind ourselves that God’s presence is always with us. No matter how deep in trouble we feel, we are never alone. If you read on to verse 8, it says, “If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.”

You are never alone.

We have the best possible expression of love given to us as a gift in the Son of God himself. He chose to sacrifice himself for the sins of all mankind so that we could enjoy the eternal love and mercy of God. Allow God’s love to fill your heart, now and always.

Remind yourself that if God takes care of the birds, he will take care of you. Let the light of hope that the death of his Son has brought into this world come into your heart and give you renewed confidence and joy.

God’s love for you is endless, and on his Earth, you are never alone.
