A Caution in the Christmas Tale

Image
The story of Christmas is as uplifting as the season itself. It’s filled with joy and hope amid the busyness of closing the year and spending time with family and friends. But at the heart of it all stands a central truth: Christmas represents an undeniable gift of love and redemption—grace freely offered to all.   While the celebration of Jesus’ birth is a joyful occasion, it also serves as a call to reflect on its deeper meaning. It reminds us of God’s boundless love and the hope we have through the birth of Jesus. However, we must remember that the gift of Christmas foreshadows a greater sacrifice to come. The virgin-born baby would one day lay down His life as an atonement for the sins of all humanity. It’s a beautiful story of love and grace, but a solemn caution lies between the gift and the sacrifice.   In Romans 6:23 (NIV), we find a warning worth heeding, even during this festive season: “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of...

Undeserved

Image
I was sitting in my garden recently, in the midst of the global lockdown, thinking about the amazing love and grace of God and this song came to me. Just wanted to share it, to remind us all that the love and grace we experience daily from God is really undeserved, but he still gives it to us, just because.  Song Lyrics: Undeserved  By Seye Oke Copyright April 2020 I don’t deserve your mercy I don’t deserve your grace But somehow you’ve shown it to me When I was lost in sin It is the love you’ve shown me That has brought me home So every day teach me to follow Your guiding  light So light the way On your truth Shine on me Bring me through So light the way Keep me true Only you Make me new ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- STUCK AT HOME? Saved by Grace Alone

Image
Hilda slowly drove into the garage of her home after a long day at work. She turned off the car engine, grabbed her bag and went into the house. But as she walked in, she heard her husband tell her to stop at the door. There was glass all over the floor. Her daughter had broken a vase. Hilda felt anger rise in her. She vividly remembered telling her daughter not to go near the vase. She had taken time to explain why it was important to handle it properly and that it was irreplaceable. “Please don’t punish her.” Tim’s voice broke her into her thoughts. “And why not? ” Hilda retorted. Why should Hilda spare her daughter after this act of disobedience? The answer is simple: grace, something we get when we don’t deserve it. From the beginning of time, God has commanded us to avoid doing wrong. But, we just couldn’t do that, starting with the first occupants of the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve. We live in a broken world filled with human error. We all deserve to be ...

Graceful June

Image
So you think you’ve had it all and you can’t take it anymore? God’s got a word for you: “ My grace is sufficient for you ” . Trust me; this word is all you’ll need for the month of June.   I could not figure out exactly what God had in mind when he told me this will be the month of grace. I thought, “oh great this would be another month of God’s blessings!” but I got a clearer understanding when I stepped into the first day of June.     It’s been crazy week for a while and I have been struggling to get my energy back. In between health troubles, doctors’ appointments and the trials of a new mom, it’s been like living on the edge. Up until now I really thought I could handle anything life threw at me, no problem. I had been in difficult situations before, over and over again and I just figured nothing could be worse. But as I stepped into June, I instinctively knew it would only take the grace of God this time around, no human effort would pull this off. ...
