God has placed in each of us abilities and gifts that he expects us to use impact humanity. True living comes from embracing our gifts' uniqueness and walk in our calling. Every human has a rhythm – the unique combination of inner desires and outer abilities that separates us from others. When dancing to your rhythm, others see your life's glow.

 

In the rush of life, it is easy to tune your song out and dance to the beats of others. If you do, you wouldn't stand out; you'd blend in, and we’ll miss out of enjoying your song. So instead, focus on your inner rhythm, this is what makes you uniquely you. 

 

The story of Esther in the Bible is one that sums up well what happens when we align our ability to opportunities – purpose is fulfilled, not just for you but for the rest of the world. Esther’s beauty and graceful nature allowed her to move into a place of prominence as a Queen. Her position as Queen put her in a unique place to stop the extermination of God's children and her passion made her speak up courageously when the time came.

 

"Who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” Esther 4: 14

 

What abilities and gifts are you overlooking in your life? It's time to fan those little embers into flames by using them. As you move into the year, take the time to identify opportunities where your abilities are required and take advantage of them. God's purpose for you comes to life when your abilities meet opportunities.

 

It's the start of a new year and a great time to take inventory of your life. Here are a few steps to get you started:

• Start with your abilities, list out the things you know how to do.
• Then, move on to your opportunities and list the things you can take advantage of or have access to.
• Finally, align your gifts to your opportunities, and you'll start to see areas that you should delve into to achieve God's bigger purpose for you.

 

This year, aim to embrace your unique self, all of you. The gifts and abilities that God has placed in you. Find opportunities to use your skills – they could be in obscure or apparent ways. And as you do, you'd experience the joy and satisfaction that comes from aligning your life to God's purpose and calling.
