There is a saying you may have heard; it says, "music refreshes the soul." The Soul – the very essence of our being. It is the part of our existence that lies between the world we live in and the world our spirit seeks to dwell. It is the part of us that lives on long after we are gone from this world. It is the part that seeks out its creator, the one our creator seeks. The Soul is the core of our being; it's the eternal being.   When disaster strikes, you may feel the pain in your body and could very well recover from it. However, if you let that deep dark feeling of loneliness and depression sink into your Soul, it will destroy your entire being. Look around you, see how worries, anxieties, and fear saps out life from souls around you. The hardship of our world serves to create a troubled soul. A troubled soul is a fertile ground for seeds of greed, wickedness, and evil to grow, which eventually grows into lost souls.   Sin...

Welcome to 2018. In the last few hours of 2017 I spent some time thumbing through my bible trying to find a theme to define the New Year. Would it be a Year of New beginnings or of Resounding praise? Would it be the Year of Restorations or Healing? As I read through verses in the book of Isaiah, I was inspired by the tenth chapter,” …that you may know me and believe me.” God’s desire is to have a stronger relationship with his children in this new year. He wants us to seek him with all our heart, to discover for ourselves who he really is. Who is this God you worship? How well do you really know him? Is he the God of your fathers, therefore your faith is somehow inherited? Is he the God they taught you about in Sunday school? Why is he your God? Why do you believe him? By Funmi Yusuf I felt compelled to write this piece after some reflection and meditation on the scripture, John 2:13-16. In these verses, the bible talked about how Jesus kicked out all the people that were trading in the temple declaring that it is a 'house of prayer', not a 'house of business'. I am guessing the buyers and sellers must have been members of the temple else they wouldn't have been allowed such access. I can only imagine how upset and disappointed Jesus must have been when he came in to pray but was met by all the distractions and vanity. I imagine Jesus came wholeheartedly, seeking to set aside the worries and pleasures of the world and just worship his father. Instead, he was being chased down by sellers and haggled by money changers. How sad. Although in current times, the picture wouldn't be as dramatic as it was during Jesus's time (I hope), but the underlying fact of making the church a 'house of business' rather than ...

Just something a wrote many years back on worship and the relieve you get when you spend time away from the cares of our world and in God's presence. Read with me ...A Time for Worship. After all has been said and done, all that really matters is your love walk with God. Where are you with that? What’s been going on in your heart lately? Have you allowed the cares of this world choke the amber of God’s love in your heart? God placed a longing in your heart for him so that you can cherish his presence. He longs to pull you away from your busy wearisome life and gently lead you into his comforting presence. There is so much peace and a sense of fulfillment that comes from spending time in God’s presence. If you have been tossed around by situations in life and you seem to have lost your joy then its time to come home to your father in worship.
